Professional Communication & Finding Opportunities

This interactive workshop encourages learners to take a more proactive approach to finding career and work experience opportunities. Learners craft their own outreach message to a potential employer before exploring how AI could support or improve it — and where its limitations lie. They then put their communication skills into practice through realistic telephone scenarios, building confidence in approaching employers and expressing their interest professionally.

CV Writing

Learners explore what makes an effective CV, from structure and content to what should — and shouldn't — be included. Working in small groups, they analyse and compare different CVs before exploring how tools such as Canva and AI can support the CV-writing process. Learners are encouraged to question AI-generated suggestions and make their own decisions about what represents them best.

Understanding Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)

What happens after you click 'Apply'? Learners go behind the scenes of Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), exploring why employers use them and how they can influence the recruitment process. Through an interactive recruiter challenge, learners review a selection of CVs, choose who they would progress and explain their decision. Their human judgement is then compared with AI and ATS results — opening up discussions around whether technology always gets it right.

AI & the Future of Recruitment

What happens when you don't apply for a job — but a recruiter uses AI to find you? Learners go behind the scenes of modern recruitment to explore how AI is changing the way employers identify and approach talent. Working in groups, they become recruiters and scout for the right candidate before comparing their human approach with how AI-powered recruitment tools do it. The workshop encourages learners to think about their own digital presence and how they may be discovered by future employers.

Pilot Workshop

An interactive introduction to how AI is changing careers and the world of work. Learners explore the opportunities and limitations of AI, the human skills technology can't replace and take part in a real-world group challenge designed to put their critical thinking and decision-making skills into practice.
